It’s important to know an author’s background, so you can avoid opinion-based books which ignore research and evidence, and may be very harmful. Here are some recommendations:

- Why love matters – how affection shapes a baby’s brain. A very accessible scientific explanation by a psychotherapist of the importance of parental love
- What every parent needs to know. This easy-to-read and beautifully illustrated book is written by a child psychologist
