enABLe breastfeeding support

Breastfeeding not enjoyable? enABle can help get the JOY in!

I love to enable mothers to help themselves, so their babies can help themselves too! Breastfeeding is meant to be really enjoyable and pain-free. But because of common UK birth practices, it may take time for mothers and babies to get it going easily. Early support for encouragement and problem-solving can make all the difference. I can give helpful information over the telephone, and put you in touch with your nearest breastfeeding supporter or lactation consultant.

More about me: I am a retired midwife and was an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant for 10 years until November 2009. In 1999 I won the British Hospital for Mothers and Babies Breastfeeding Award. I worked as Infant Feeding Adviser in a shared post in a Surrey hospital for 5 years; now I help mothers voluntarily. I’m an associate member of Lactation Consultants of Great Britain. (Find out more about Lactation Consultants here) My aim is to help parents make informed choices on infant feeding. I also give support to mothers who wish to reduce or stop breastfeeding, or who weren’t able to get it going and need to come to terms with this.
